Sweetwater 420 Fest: Recap Day 3

This past Sunday saw the closing day of 2012's annual Sweetwater 420 Fest, and it was no doubt the Bluegrass day.  Aside from the sole cover outfit, youngbloods and Alphretta natives Fear of Silence, there was a smorgasboard of fiddles, mandolins, slide guitar, and stand up bass.  The mainstage saw a few Western / Upstate New York bluegrass outfits headlining, as neo-grass outfit Floodwood (side project of Moe. 's Al for those follow the jam scene), and Bluegrass-fusion outfit Donna the Buffalo were the major draws.  There were great sets from Charleston, SC soul-grass ensemble Sol Driven Train, and a traditional stompfest from Atlanta based Smokey's Farmland Band.

This being the final day of this brewery sponsored event, and a chilly, but still beautiful Sunday, the crowd was definitely a bit hungover from the weekend's 420 inspired antics.  The only downside to this fun loving, beer schwillin' Southern Sunday was that the cask tasting for VIP's only, which means both regular attendees and some press as well (*ahem*) were not allowed to sample and judge the hard work all the brewers had been doing in preparations.  But, all in all, it was a nice slow way to down an energetic, fun weekend, that was as peaceful as the name promised.  There was no negative energy all weekend, and security couldn't have had a better weekend.  And as they announced the winning team of the cornhole challenge, "The (great) Cornholios", all seemed right in Candler Park.  Next year will have some big shoes to fill.
